In the course of the week, about three days ago Heal the World Movement in her usual manner extended her humanitarian gesture to a father of two, Pius Enefiok, a Glaucoma, diabetic, and an amputee patient in Oshodi area of Lagos.

Pius Enefiok became amputated as a result of an extended battle with diabetes which he could hardly tell exactly when it started. During our humanitarian visit to his residence where he put up with his brother, the father of two made clear to us, after we also confirmed that he is a Mathematics and Statistics graduate in one of the leading Polytechnics in the country.

According to Pius and after several proofs, the consequential effect of diabetes has made him incapacitated and left him with several health challenges such as being bedridden, Glaucoma, loss of his right limb (as a result of amputation) and constant headache each time he runs out of his medical supplies. These are few amongst other pain the father of two experiences each and every day.

During our visit to Pius at his residence in Oshodi Lagos state, some packs of medical supplies and cash gifts were delivered to him. Pius’s impoverished position today caught our attention. During discussion with us, he made us understand that in the course of getting medical help for his condition, all he had was spent on drugs and since he had nothing left and couldn’t meet up with his domestic bills he was ejected from where he was formerly residing. This inevitably made him stay a bit farther from his family, who would not be able to share the crammed one-room with him.

Pius Enefiok is one out of many Nigerians who believe in their ability even in the face of disability. In his chat with us he made clear that he has lectured and taught Mathematics, statistics. At O’ level, Economics, and Commerce. At the introductory level he said he has also taken financial management and quantitative analysis. He lectured in tutorial centers and in institutions of higher learning. According to Enefiok while he spoke with Heal the World Newsdesk, he mentioned that before the effect of Diabetes took a toll on him; he has been actively engaged in lecturing.

“I lecture Business Mathematics in 100 level in the university. I have been teaching and organizing tutorial lectures for undergraduates and secondary school students and my qualifications are there and my National Youth Service Corps certificate is also there”.

Pius Enefiok, a Mathematics and Statistics lecturer is one out of many people we need to reach out to. However, we cannot do it without your benevolence and kind support to a course like this. Pius and over three hundred school children and more (that will be added to our list soon) needs your support

Presently Pius needs more fund to provide for his medical supplies, learn to use computer, braille and many other things people with his medical challenge needs. So help give Pius a good chance in life by being an extension of grace to him.
