Choose to challenge: The expected mark for Womanhood

Choose to challenge the expected mark for Womanhood is not a fancy phrase, but a call on women to take their place in the race for purposeful leadership. It is world Women’s day today and the excitement of how much great number of Women leaders are emerging is so amazing.

In recent time women have taken the lead in global action and further enforced a lot of change, too many changes to number. Should I better say that this isn’t a recent action but a long time movement that has led to many changes in our society and world generally?

The recent appointment of the newest World Trade Organization Director General, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who also doubles as the first woman ever appointed to that prestigious office has shown to us that women leadership in our world matters as well as their involvement in global issues. Taking a cue from the race for the seat of World Trade organization apex office, we will see how much women leaders are emerging to lead for a change and ultimately to challenge the status quo. Yoo Myung-hee, a South-Korean woman who also ran alongside Ngozi Okonjo Iweala would be recognized for her leadership in her nation having emerged the first woman to head the ministry of trade in her country and further, helped position her nation in the formulation of trade policy in the face of the COVID19 pandemic.

Riding on the wings of this year’s theme #ChooseToChallenge, we live in a world where challenges lies around us and our ability to stand up to change brings the desired outcome we have been hoping to see. As much as the psychology of human mostly look up to men, the women even seem to be stronger in recent time where the fight for change is concerned and really we have come to a time where emancipation will no longer be measured by gender but by a true act of heroism, bravery and quality leadership. Once looking at the lifestyle of Harriet Tubman, a female abolitionist it will be convenient to say that the womenfolk are emotionally stronger and conscious of what the future should be like. This then plays back to us all, a good reason to choose the right element, attitude, and personality to challenge what is not right.

Our future today comes with too many uncertainties and this is one good reason status quo needs to be challenge for us all to live in the future of our dream. How well we choose is a function of how much we will be able to challenge any situation.

#ChooseToChallenge should be your position as a girl-child in a world where status quo is robbing us of our dream and that is why Heal the World Movement as an organization today have chosen to Challenge any wrong system.
